Flash is fun and it makes sense to use it.  Flash has been around for years and it is supported by most of today's browsers.  Today you see the use of flash on many of today's major websites.  Most computers have the required plug-ins already installed so you can pretty much count on your users being able to see your flash content.  If they can't see it, they can download the plug-ins for free.  Our Dot Net Nuke (DNN) sites use flash. We use flash in our picture galleries and we use flash in our banners on at least some of our sites.  Flash is a great tool for making custom animations with small file sizes.

We plan to use and develop more flash content as time goes by.  Take a look at the banner on this website.  It is a simple banner that is built using flash.  When I create the flash banner I think in layers. On the bottom layer the picture of the clouds is put in place.  On the layer above that I place the text "www.iowafolks.com".  I then do another layer of text "By Techno-Visions Software". I delay this text from turning on until I am ready. In the layer above that I created some clouds and I put them in motion to move across the banner.

I think this is a little more interesting then a regular old static banner.

I also want to say a few words about what happens when flash is not installed on the users machine.  We use code that looks to see if flash is installed on the machine. If the user does not have flash we show an image instead.

If you want a flash banner on your DNN site and need help making it happen contact us because we might be able to help.
